We foster a spirit of community across time for Penn Staters and the Nittany Valley's people. While traditional conservationists preserve a special environmental landscape, we conserve a remarkable spiritual landscape by sharing the spirit, customs, and relationships that shape our communities as distinctively as Mount Nittany herself.

Why a Cultural Conservancy?
The Nittany Valley Society is a nonprofit cultural conservancy in State College, Pennsylvania. We cultivate appreciation for the history, customs, and spirit of the Nittany Valley, the Pennsylvania State University, and the surrounding communities. We make no claims of ownership or exclusivity. The unique spirit that has drawn people here for generations finds its expression in all manner of outlets. Ours is simply another take on timeless themes.
Through The Willow Gathering, Nittany Valley Press, and the Nittany Valley Heritage Walk, The Nittany Valley Society enhances the experience of the place for students, alumni, faculty, townspeople, and all friends of Old State. Read “What is The Nittany Valley Society?” for more on our founding and our inaugural column in Town & Gown for even further insight.
